When Crystal McLeod earned her CPR and first aid certification at Penn State 阿宾顿 on Nov. 9, she had no idea that just nine days later she would save her own mother’s life.
Gifts this #GivingTuesday (Dec. 3) will be allocated to the 阿宾顿 Student Emergency Assistance Fund, which supports the LionShare Food Pantry, helps purchase textbooks, and offsets unexpected urgent needs of students who otherwise may think their only option is to withdraw from school.
Penn State 阿宾顿 is scheduled to receive 1,000 pounds of fresh produce for distribution each week from Philabundance, the region's largest hunger relief organization.

Dr. Gillian Beauchamp, emergency medical physician and toxicologist at the Lehigh Valley Health Network, delivered the final expert presentation of the day. Dr. Beauchamp works with an emergency room team and EMS professionals to treat overdose victims. “The idea,” says Beauchamp, “is that hope happens at a place like a hospital. It happens in an emergency department.”
